Puteri Umno members have been urged not to use emotion in confronting the opposition onslaughts, particularly slanders, but go on the offensive by using facts.
Its chief, Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said Puteri members needed to use three weapons as a strategy in rebutting political slanders, namely knowledge, wisdom and patience.
“The three approaches should be adapted according to the situation. Without knowledge, there will be no wisdom, and without patience, slanders will inflame destruction, stifling the essence of the struggle,” she said in her policy speech at the movement’s general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
She said the movement wanted to be at the forefront in sidestepping accusations and slanders hurled by the opposition, especially those that caused the misconception of the society.
“Perception cannot be countered by perception, perception cannot be countered by emotion. Instead, perception can be parried by arguments, perception can be parried by knowledge, perception can be parried by facts. This is our way,” she said.
Citing a statement on religious freedom allegedly made by Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar recently, Rosnah said the ideological pluralism allegedly advocated by the opposition would not only threaten Muslims’ faith, but also challenge the federal constitution.

Meanwhile, Rosmah said Puteri Umno, which boasts 395,674 members, would continue to work hard in the name of the religion, race, and nation.
Urging the people not to belittle Puteri Umno, she said, Puteri’s gentleness and quietness should not misconstrued as a sign of weakness.
“When the time comes, we will turn the table against the opposition. We will prove Puteri are fighters. We will make sure that we will become Umno’s torch bearers. To Umno Youth, Wanita, let us join hands. We make sure that the BN (Barisan Nasional) remains intact,” she said amid cheers from nearly 1,000 delegates.
