TELUK INTAN Numerous anonymous leaflets spreading messages of racism have been circulated across Teluk Intan in the last 24 hours in what DAP sees as a move to scare voters from supporting its candidate, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

This includes a "Balik Cina" leaflet, in which a giant panda responds to Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein when he asks, "Apa you mau lagi?" (What else do you want?).

At the final press conference of the party today, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said the leaflets have been found in many places, as though the job of circulating it had been contracted out.

The panda, of course, wants to go back to China. But not the Malaysian Chinese, Lim said, holding up the panda flyer.

"Hishammuddin asked the panda, what else you want, and the panda said it wants to go back to China. Of course the panda wants to go back China.

"The Chinese in Teluk Intan and in Malaysia have been asked this again. We don't want to go to China. We are not panda," Lim ( left ) said.

"Umno leaders have been asking what more do the Chinese want. They are doubting the contributions of the Chinese to this country."

On this, Lim concurred with BN candidate Mah Siew Keong, who said this by-election was the dirtiest election campaign he has ever seen, and he asked Mah whether he would shy away from responsibility for the anonymous racist leaflets as well.

'Don't act like the three monkeys'

"Mah has claimed ignorance of the money politics going on, the giving out of hampers and sexist politics. He shouldn't act like the traditional three monkeys, where the eyes see not, ears hear not and mouth speaks not," Lim said.

Mah can’t act as though he shouldn’t be held responsible for all this, he said.

Among others, the flyers alleged that Malays would be chased out of Penang, Christianity will be made the official religion in 2020, the call for prayers will be prohibited, Malays are pendatang.

One message which is seen as provoking Chinese alleges that DAP would cover up for PAS to table a Private Member’s Bills to implement hudud.

Other messages include DAP misled Chinese that it would share political power, but will make the Chinese ultimately stay out of the government.

One of the leaflets features PAS president Hadi Awang with Dyana, and said, “You are not waking up, PAS is at your doorstep.”

Other leaflet aimed at portraying both Dyana and PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as puppets, saying the latter was “a puppet who never admits she is one” and claimed Dyana was “DAP’s puppet who is good as window dressing”.
