MCA today called for the Selangor state assembly to be dissolved and a snap election held following the allegations of integrity problems involving Selangor Menteri Bear Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

"With a fresh state election called, we hope BN can reclaim power in Selangor," Selangor MCA secretary Ng Chok Sin said.
 
Ng ( left ) said the party, which lost all 14 seats it contested in the Selangor legislative assembly in the 13th general election, wishes to win back some of the seats.
 
"From our point of view, at least we can also win back some seats, this is our hope," he said.
 
Ng said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and his party should make public all the evidence on the alleged integrity issues involving Khalid.

He also urged PKR to lodge reports with both the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission before Aug 10.

 
"MCA will lodge reports with the two enforcement agencies if PKR fails to do so,"Ng told a press conference.

PKR should apologise

He also said PKR and Saifuddin "owe the public an apology" for attempting to "cover up" integrity issues surrounding Khalid.

PKR should not have waited six years since Khalid took the menteri besar's post and for an internal conflict to reveal the problems.

Asked about the possibility of Umno and PAS cooperating in Selangor to retain Khalid as menteri besar, Ng dismissed this as "speculation".

The crisis deepened today with PKR issuing a show-cause letter to Khalid for refusing the party instruction to resign from his post.

The disciplinary board’s chairperson Tan Kee Kwong said PKR's plan to change the menteri besar was hatched on Jan 15.

The party’s top leaders also named PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Khalid’s replacement on July 21.

The show-cause letter comes after proposals were made at the political bureau meeting on Sunday that Khalid be sacked from the party.

Political bureau member Rafizi Ramli said the bureau did not make any decision on this, however, as it is the purview of the disciplinary board.
