Khalid may not heed PKR order to meet Azizah

This instruction from PKR’s political bureau may not be fulfilled as Khalid’s supporters are reluctant about the meeting, for they believe that only one message will be delivered to Khalid, and that is for him to resign.
A source close to Khalid’s supporters told Malaysiakini that the instruction for Khalid and Wan Azizah to hold a meeting between themselves was decided last Sunday, at a meeting of the PKR political bureau committee members.
If Khalid refuses to meet Wan Azizah, the ongoing crisis on the menteri besar issue will only continue and “coordinated attacks” on Khalid would soon come into the picture, the source said.
This will also bring about exposes on the “doubts” to Khalid’s integrity.
Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said Khalid’s “ doubtful integrity ” was one of the reasons why he was told to vacate his post as menteri besar.
'Only two possible outcomes'
Saifuddin charged that Khalid's integrity had “become doubtful” following his RM66 million out-of-court loan settlement with Bank Islam.
PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli (right) announced yesterday that the party’s political bureau decided to hold public events to explain the on-going crisis and for Wan Azizah to meet with Khalid to discuss his future.
Meanwhile, Khalid’s political secretary, Azman Abidin, said there would only be two outcomes from the meeting: whether there will be a smooth transition of power or Khalid remains as the menteri besar until the end of his second term.
Another source from the party said the meeting would be the last diplomatic effort to ask Khalid to resign or face intensified pressure from the party to vacate his post.
“It is the last effort to help him because the pressure on him will only intensify after this,” said the source, a PKR leader.
However he refused to elaborate on the next course of action the Wan Azizah camp would take should Khalid refuse to step down.
Show-cause letter
The crisis further deepened today with the PKR disciplinary committee issuing a show-cause letter to Khalid for defying party instructions that he resigns.
The committee’s chairperson, Tan Kee Kwong, said the party's plan to change the menteri besar was hatched on Jan 15 and the party’s top leaders also named Wan Azizah as Khalid’s replacement on July 21.
However, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim gave his assurance that Pakatan would weather the crisis and be triumphant if a fresh state election is called
However, Anwar said, there was no "real objective" to call snap polls as Pakatan has a super-majority in the Selangor legislative assembly and the 13th general election was held only 15 months ago.
