Selangor Umno chairperson Noh Omar has slammed PKR for only now highlighting the alleged abuses of the Abdul Khalid Ibrahims administration when Umno Selangor has long raised these issues.
“We have read the expose by the PKR secretary-general on the 20 issues of (more than) 50 pages on the MB’s weaknesses. These issues have been raised, but when I talked about it they defended him,” Noh said.
He added the timing of PKR’s expose also smacked of “insincerity”, for PKR would defend Khalid ( right ) if vested interests were not threatened.
“Umno views this as a lesson for us, that we have to choose a strong government,” he said when asked what the whole debacle tells the people of Selangor.
Speaking at an event to celebrate his wedding anniversary and Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Shah Alam last night, Noh also said Umno was ready if snap state election is called to resolve the MB crisis.
“We are ready, although our preparation is actually for the 14th general election. We will use this preparation if a Selangor election is called,” he said.
Noh said that the Selangor Umno war room has also started issuing strategic directives to Umno branches.
Khalid, the Selangor menteri besar, has been accused of “suspicion of corruption” by his party, following his refusal to step down and be replaced by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
