Selangor PAS said today it never sent a list of names of its assemblypersons to the central leadership as nominees for the post of Selangor menteri besar.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad ( left ) denied a report in Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia today that PAS Selangor had sent four names to the party’s central leadership, asking for a PAS representative to be nominated for the menteri besar post.

"Selangor PAS had never sent any names from PAS to be considered for the menteri besar post," Iskandar told Malaysiakini .

He reiterated that the central PAS leadership will make the final decision on the names to be sent to the Selangor palace.

“We will support whatever decision that the PAS central leadership makes,” he said.

“The Utusan report is not accurate,” he added.

Utusan , in its report quoting unnamed sources, said the four names sent to PAS leadership by Selangor PAS are three state executive councillors currently serving under outgoing MB Khalid Ibrahim, and another state representative.

The names include Iskandar, who is a state exco member and Cempaka assemblyperson, along with two other state exco members, Sallehen Mukhyi ( right ) and Ahmad Yunus Khairy.

Tanjung Sepat assemblyperson Haslin Hassan was reportedly the fourth name  forwarded to the central leadership.

However, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali reiterated yesterday that the party will only nominate PKR representatives for the post, even though it will comply with the palace’s request to send more than two names.

PKR and DAP have announced their intention to repeat what they had done in 2013, where they sent only one name to the palace for the post of menteri besar, despite being requested to send at least four.
