PAS issues gag order on feud over Pakatan
MUKTAMAR PAS deputy spiritual leader Haron Din has issued a gag order asking delegates to stop discussing conflicting views among its leaders on the Pakatan issue.
MUKTAMAR PAS deputy spiritual leader Haron Din has issued a gag order asking delegates to stop discussing conflicting views among its leaders on the Pakatan issue.
Addressing the the 60th PAS muktamar in Batu Pahat, Haron said the situation needed to cool down.
"Our muktamar has reached a level where the situation has really heated up over the differences of opinion between the party president and others.
"I instruct for any discussion on this issue to stop. For the delegates who will be speaking, I ask that this issue be closed," he told delegates.
Haron said the same issues had been raised repeatedly since yesterday and leaders have already taken note of the matter.
"It will all be addressed during the winding up session. Please abide by this. Don't make things any hotter," he said.
Friction at the top
Hadi has been at odds with his top lieutenants over who should be the new Selangor menteri besar.
Even though the PAS central committee has decided to endorse PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Azmin Ali, Hadi overruled the body and submitted his own names to the Selangor palace for consideration.
Hadi's move has also created friction within the opposition coalition as PKR and DAP have also backed Wan Azizah.
Some delegates branded pro-Pakatan PAS leaders as disloyal to Hadi while pro-Pakatan delegates rapped their counterparts for crossing the boundaries of acceptable behavior.
Earlier today, Federal Territory PAS delegate Azhari Ariffin led delegates in a prayer session which derided pro-Pakatan leaders and the Islamic party's coalition partners.
This prompted Kuala Kedah PAS delegate Ridzwan Abu Bakar ( left ) to bypass the speaking order and stomped to the podium to slam Azhari for what he said was an inappropriate use of prayer.
Haron, in an attempt to rein in the debate from boiling over into a discord, urged delegates to observe decorum in a muktamar and obey the event's permanent chairperson Abu Kassim Abdullah.
"If delegates are not invited to speak, then they should not. Even I asked for permission before speaking.
"For those who are told to stop, they should do so and not go against the permanent chairperson," he said.
