PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has called on Pakatan Rakyat leaders and supporters to refrain from making comments about the Selangor government.

"Hopefully through this we will be able to ease the tension (surrounding the menteri besar appointment)," he was quoted as saying by PAS organ Harakahdaily .

"There is a time for discussion and a time to make decisions," he added, without elaborating.

As for now, Nik Aziz said the new menteri besar Azmin Ali and his executive council members must be given the space to execute their duties.

The spiritual leader also extended a prayer for the well-being of the menteri besar and his exco members.

The menteri besar crisis, which dragged on for several months, witnessed the emergence of wide cracks in PAS.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's opposition to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail helming the state also strained the party’s ties with its allies.

Though Nik Aziz initially expressed support for Hadi, not all in PAS were on the same page with the president and there were calls for his removal.

The Selangor sultan then decided to appoint Azmin as a compromise.

Meanwhile, Azmin also ruffled feathers in PAS when he named only three excos from the party in his administration compared to four under his predecessor Khalid Ibrahim.

Umno has been capitalising on the verbal jousting between the Pakatan parties.
