Petaling Jaya Utara Tony Pua is being investigated under the Sedition Act for his angry tweet against the police after the arrest of Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Pua was seen with his counsels Puchong MP Gobind Singh, Serdang MP Lim Lip Eng and Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, after having his statement recorded at Bukit Aman police headquarters.

The entire process took 45 minutes and Pua was then free to leave.

"He is being investigated under the Sedition Act, and since the police did not detain or arrest him, the investigation is still under way," Gobind told reporters.

He added Pua has cooperated with the police and it is now left to them to "wrap up the investigation".

Pua said his investigating officer requested his laptop to facilitate the investigation, to which the MP said he will comply.

On March 16, Pua in an angry rant lambasted the police force by tweeting, "Bastards. Real bastards. Royal my foot."

IGP Khalid Abu Bakar in response to the tweet said the police will call the DAP national publicity secretary in for questioning.

"PDRM will call this YB in to explain what he meant by 'royal my foot'. Was it directed at the Malay rulers?" Khalid tweeted.

'Not aimed at rulers'

Today, Pua reiterated to reporters that he was not referring to the royal family in his tweet.

The message, he said, was a reaction to Nurul Izzah's arrest last week, he said.

"I was merely expressing my anger and frustration at Nurul Izzah being detained overnight," he said.

Nurul Izzah was detained on March 16 over her involvement in the Kita Lawan rally to call for the freeing of her father, jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

She spent a night in lockup and was released the following day.

As of last week, ten people have been arrested in relation to the Kita Lawan rally, including PKR, PAS and DAP leaders and political activists.
