Ku Nan: Keep calm, beware spins against boss

Umno leaders and members have been asked to keep calm and be rational with regard to the attacks against their president Najib Abdul Razak.

In making the call, party secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said those in Umno must provide their undivided support to the top leadership.

He also pleaded that Najib be given the space to deliberate on the best action to take.

"We must realise that in the current situation, we must be cautious because others, especially the opposition, are constantly looking for space and opportunity to destroy our unity which has been our fortress all this while.

"Let us not be influenced by the numerous manipulations and provocations," he added in a statement.

Focus on party struggle

At the same time, Tengku Adnan, who is popularly known as Ku Nan, urged Umno members to focus on the party struggle.

"I ask all Umno members to hold firm to the objectives of the party and ensure that democracy remains fertile," he said.

Umno and its president have been rocked by the Wall Street Journal report last week which claimed that US$700 million of 1MDB funds was purportedly transferred into Najib’s bank accounts.

Najib has denied the claim and blamed the allegation on those attempting to topple him, namely former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
