Rosmah Mansor is finding solace in prayer as allegations and criticisms rain on her husband, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"We leave it to Allah, that is most important," she told Malaysiakini when met at the sidelines of a function in Malacca.

Stressing that she could only pray during this difficult time, Rosmah reminded Muslims of respecting the holy month of Ramadan.

"This is a good day, a holy month, let us not slander each other. This is what the Quran teaches us.

"We leave it to Allah. We can only pray," Rosmah added when asked how she felt over the allegations against her husband.

 

Asked what she does as Najib’s wife in facing such situations, Rosmah simply said: “As his wife, I pray, too.”

Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that RM2.6 billion of 1MDB-linked funds was deposited into Najib's personal bank accounts.

Najib has denied the allegation and blamed former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad of masterminding such reports to oust him.

 

P rayers for protection

Meanwhile, Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron who was also at the same event today, prayed for Najib and his wife to be protected.

Idris ( photo ) said he, together with the people of Malacca, would continue praying for their well-being.

“I pray that Allah always gives them prosperity, longevity, sustenance and health.

"We in Malacca will always pray that Najib and Rosmah are protected from any slander because what we have built thus far, could be destroyed as a result of it.

"Slandering others is worse than murder,” he said in his speech today.

The Sungai Udang assemblyperson also hoped Najib and his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as cabinet members, would weather the ongoing ‘tests’ and Malaysia would become a developed nation in the future.
