A cabinet minister has challenged opposition leaders who have met Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo to clear the air.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Justo had been implicated in a conspiracy against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, thus the matter is of serious nature.
"(If the allegations are true) it is an act to sabotage the country, this is treason against the country," said Ahmad Shabery when met at the open house event at the prime minister's official residence in Putrajaya today.
According to several news reports, Thai police claim that Justo had confessed to meeting 10 Malaysians, including Umno and opposition figures, in Singapore.
Justo is in Thai police custody for allegedly blackmailing his former employers PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI) by threatening to leak sensitive company documents.
Boot Pua from PAC
Malaysian authorities claim that the documents were tampered and leaked to whistleblower website Sarawak Report in order to implicate Najib and 1MDB.
Ahmad Shabery said the opposition leaders that have met Justo have yet to deny doing so and must do so immediately.
"Failing which, then this is a signal that what happened were true (Justo's testimony)," he said.
When asked if Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, who has been one of 1MDB's harshest critic, be excluded from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Ahmad Shabery replied: "Yes".
"This will be investigated. If the relevant person didn't deny, I see this is a serious matter," he said.
Person identified
Yesterday, Thailand police said Justo had met a member of the Malaysian opposition and also a Malaysian media tycoon before allegedly selling PetroSaudi company information to them.
This morning, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the identity of the oppositon figure has been ascertained .
He called on the person, whom he declined to name, to surrender or face arrest.
"Definitely we will be calling in anyone (in relation to the Justo's case). We have identified (the opposition leader) and we will call in this person.
"Let us do the investigation. I hope they will cooperate with us or we will take action to arrest and remand them in lock-up," he said today.
