Selangor MB investigated for bringing child to Bersih 4
Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali is in the soup for bringing his child to the Bersih 4 rally.
This is among the infractions for which the PKR deputy president was questioned for at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters today, he said.
He was also called in for questioning for attending the Bersih 4 rally, wearing the banned Bersih 4 T-shirt and for comments he made about the inspector-general of police in his speech at Permatang Pauh in May.
He allegedly called IGP Khalid Abu Bakar a lackey in the speech in May.
He attended the 34-hour rally on Aug 29 and 30, with his family.
Challenge the ban
Being called in for questioning for the alleged offences is a form of intimidation and harassment, Azmin said.
"What happened (at the Bersih 4 rally) followed the constitution. I am sure that it was a peaceful rally," he said.
He said his lawyers are planning on challenging the ban on Bersih 4 T-shirts gazetted on the rally eve.
"That (ban against Bersih yellow T-shirt) was very dodgy and my lawyers will be challenging it," he said.
His lawyer N Surendran said the probe is “a waste of police time and police resources”.
The Bersih 4 rally was a peaceful rally, and as such, no investigations should be done on anything related to it, he said.
He added that Azmin’s comments on the IGP should also not be investigated as it was a legitimate political speech.
