PKR vice-president has challenged Felda chairperson Shahrir Abdul Samad to a debate.

This is over the allegedly dubious transfer of Felda's prime land in Jalan Semarak in Kuala Lumpur to Synergy Promenade.

Even though the company had agreed to unconditionally return the land to Felda, Rafizi claimed questions remained about the deal.

"The episode of Felda land being returned is only a political show played by Shahrir Samad," Rafizi said in a statement.

Last Monday, Shahrir announced that Synergy Promenade had agreed to return the land to Felda at no cost.

However, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said investigations into the matter, including a forensic audit, would proceed.

The private company had reportedly exercised the power of attorney granted to it to transfer the land to its name.

Rafizi previously questioned whether Najib was responsible for signing off the power of attorney to the company on behalf of Felda.

Felda is an agency under the Prime Minister's Department. Shahrir denied Najib had any role in the deal.
