With over 1,200 entries and close to 265,000 unique visitors to the WWWOW portal, excitement is high as the voting stage kicks off
SHAH ALAM, 19June 2013 –DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”)’s DiGi WWWOW Internet For All Awards 2013 – now in its third consecutive year - is moving up a notch in the excitement stakes as the voting process gets underway. With voting open from 3– 23 June 2013 , more than 1,000 current nominees are busy promoting their entries in the hope of winning money-can’t-buy experiences.
Amongst the special prizes to be won is an all-expense paid for trip to Oslo, Norway to attend the Nobel Prize Concert and sit in the exclusive CNN interviews - for the winners of the People’s Choice Award and DiGi WWWOW of the Year award. Other special prizes include a trip to The Philippines to meet fellow top bloggers and an opportunity to pick the brains of the Managing Editor of Yahoo! SEA on developing photo stories. In total, winners in the 15 categories stand to win RM165,000 in prizes.
“After two successful editions of the DiGi WWWOW Internet For All Awards where we celebrated the power of the Internet and its ability to inspire others, we are now focusing on how the Internet is really a force that not only empowers Netizens to dream big, but also a channel for them to achieve greater success. Many Netizens are already fully embracing this year’s theme of ‘Dream Big, Do Bigger’,” said Chan May Ling, Head of Marketing Services for DiGi.
“I am excited to see the overwhelming response that we have received and am confident that this excitement will continue and more Netizens will participate. To date, we have recorded more unique visitors as compared to last year and we are looking forward to surpass the number of last year’s submissions,” added May Ling.
For Netizens who have not submitted their entries, it is still not too late – as public submission of entries is open until 23 June 2013. However, they should hurry, as 22,000votes have already been cast (as of 17 June 2013).Endorsed by the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC), this year’s awards programme recognises Malaysia’s top talents in social media, digital content and web commerce who have inspired others to achieve greater things and do more good through the power of the Internet. After public voting closes on 23 June 2013, the results will be announced at a first-of-its kind virtual awards ceremony on 6 July 2013.

Winners of all awards will be chosen based on a combination of public voting and judges’ decisions, except for two categories - The People’s Choice of the Year category is determined by popular vote while The Best of the Best category will be decided by the panel of judges from the winners of the remaining 13 categories, all of which are selected based on a combined score of popular votes and judges’ decision.

The DiGi WWWOW Awards is Malaysia’s first and only Internet For All awards, celebrating the achievements of ordinary Malaysians online. Meanwhile, the awards made waves in cyberspace - recording over 2,000 tweets carrying the #DiGiWWWOW hashtag and creating more than 3 million impressions, while the WWWOW.my microsite saw 1.4 million page views from 335,000 unique visitors.
