Lulu Hypermarket has launched the 15-day ‘Festival of promoting Local Malaysian products” on the occasion of Malaysia Merdeka day celebrations. The event was inaugurated by Malaysian Trade Minister in the presence of large gathering. Speaking on the occasion, the minister appreciated Lulu Hypermarket for taking the initiative to promote local Malaysian products. This initiative by Lulu will largely benefit local Malaysian farmers. The minister also pointed that about 30% of the SME products have already been listed by Lulu.

Lulu is conducting this festival in association with SME Corp and FAMA. Several booths have been set up at the ground floor for promoting the products which will be managed by SME Corp and FAMA. Lulu also exports almost 70 products from Malaysia to across of the GCC monthly consist of local product such us paratha, frozen good, furniture products, plastic ware and also fresh items. Lulu promote this SME product and the displays are given prominently to compete. Lulu does not charge any fee for the SME listing or even the current event they are not charged any fee. My Malaysia promotion will be from 26th August to 11th Sept.

At present, Lulu operates 127 store across Midle East and India with 2 stores in Far East. 1 in Indonesia and 1 in Malaysia. By the end of Year 2018, new hypermarkets will be opened by Lulu in major Malaysian cities namely Setia City Mall, Section 7 Shah Alam, Bangi Gateway, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johore Bharu. With the above expansion there will be around 5000 job opportunities for the locals.

Currently Lulu offer from 5% up to 70% discount in conjunction with the Merdeka Festive for the Departmental store such as Electronics, Electricals, IT, Mobile, House Hold, Home Furnishing, Stationery, Garments, Sarees (Traditional Malaysian Dress Material), Churidar, Footwear, Sports, Luggage and Toys. This promotion is from 26th August to 31st December.
