IOI City Mall Will Become Malaysia's Biggest Retail Mall Upon Completion in 2022

Putrajaya, 6 December, 2021: IOI City Mall (ICM), located within the prestigious integrated development of IOI Resort City, Putrajaya will become the biggest retail, entertainment-cum-shopping mall in Malaysia, when its Phase II is fully operational for business and tenanted by the second quarter of 2022.

With the MCO lockdown being lifted in phases in recent months, most activities are returning to pre-pandemic levels. These activities augur well for IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG), as it continues with the many mixed development projects within IOI Resort City.

IOIPG Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Voon Tin Yow said, “Construction on ICM Phase II began in 2018 and has been progressing well, despite the numerous lockdowns implemented due to the pandemic. This new phase of ICM will add an additional 1 million sq ft of net lettable area (NLA), bringing the total NLA to 2.5 million square feet.”

“We are pleased to inform that despite the unpredictable market environment in recent years, we have managed to secure around 70 per cent tenants for the new phase; and more and more tenants are signing up, as we speak. And those which have signed up in the 70 per cent group for Phase II include current and trendy brands like Best Denki, Food Empire, MajuHome, Nitori, Objet, Valiram Group and many others", Dato Voon added.

ICM will house 11 anchor tenants, with the new ones being AEON, GSC, Proton, IOI Sports Centre, IOI Grand Hall joining the current ones of Lotus’s, Harvey Norman, Homepro, Parkson, Icescape Icerink and District 21 Indoor Adventure Theme Park.

Since the opening of ICM Phase 1 in 2014, the mall has been enjoying a steady occupancy rate of around 98 to 99 per cent,” Dato’ Voon added.

“This is a very good testimony from our tenants, as they have full confidence on how we manage the mall in various ways, extending to shoppers a good mix of brands, both local and international. What’s more, our strong anchor tenants help draw a discernable mix of customers to the mall,” he said.

Complementing the existing mall’s interior and exterior designs, ICM Phase II’s central glass atrium brings in natural light through the six-storied building. Besides the retail outlets, Phase II also houses a 40,000 sq ft exhibition hall, a new cinema concept with an IMAX hall, a modern dining arcade, together with a new rooftop sports centre and gymnasium.

With its well-lit interiors, the mall entices shoppers to spend hours enjoying its ambience, as they partake in shopping, dining on Asian or Western choices, and revelling in the different entertainment 2 attractions, all within a day’s visit, and if not longer when they stay at any of the hotels within IOI Resort City.
