PUTRAJAYA, 31 MAY 2025 – 10,000 participants from all walks of life gathered at Dataran Wawasan, Putrajaya, tonight for Larian Wira 2025 – Night Run, organised by the Armed Forces Fund Board (“LTAT”). Themed “For Our Heroes” or “Demi Wira Kami”, the event was dedicated to honouring the sacrifices made by the members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (“MAF”) in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and to ignite a sense of patriotism among Malaysians.
Now in its third instalment, the run was held for the first time at night and featured three categories – 5km (Fun Run), 10km, and 21.1km (Half Marathon). The 5km Fun Run also saw the participation of 22 special needs children from the Incredible Warrior Club, exemplifying inclusivity and community spirit.
A key highlight of the night was the promotion of the Tabung Pahlawan fundraising campaign led by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (“JHEV”). Funds collected through this campaign will directly benefit MAF veterans in need, including those who are critically ill, physically challenged, or elderly and living alone. This meaningful initiative aims to provide both moral and financial support to those who have dedicated their lives to defending the nation.
According to the Chairman of LTAT, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Azizan bin Ariffin RMAF (Retired), “Larian Wira is a powerful symbol of national unity, patriotism, and profound gratitude for the selfless service of our Armed Forces personnel. These are our true national heroes – serving to ensure the country’s peace and sovereignty remain intact. This year, LTAT is honoured to collaborate with JHEV in further amplifying awareness of Tabung Pahlawan, providing the public a meaningful avenue to contribute towards the welfare of our veterans.”
LTAT’s Chief Executive, Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi, expressed his gratitude for the strong turnout. “Larian Wira 2025 – Night Run shows that Malaysians continue to appreciate the contributions of our Armed Forces. This event not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also strengthens the bond between the people and those who serve to protect us. LTAT remains committed to positioning Larian Wira as a meaningful platform that strengthens the bond between the public and the MAF while nurturing national pride and unity.”
The event also featured a range of engaging activities, including a Zumba warm-up session by the Badan Kesenian Tentera Udara (“BKTU”), a Hakka performance by the reserve officer Training Unit (“PALAPES”) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (“UKM”), and a drumline show by the Armed Forces. Participants also had access to rehabilitation services offered by the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital (“HATTM”), as well as a military exhibition by the Malaysian Armed Forces.
In addition, LTAT Group companies such as Affin Bank, BHPetrol, and AHAM Asset Management Berhad (“AHAM Capital”) showcased exhibition booths to connect with the public, while a line-up of food trucks rounded out the evening for participants and visitors alike.
Also present during the event were the Deputy Chief of Army, Lt Gen Dato’ Tengku Muhammad Fauzi bin Tengku Ibrahim, and the Deputy Chief of Air Force, Lt Gen Dato’ Sri Hj Muhamad Norazlan bin Aris RMAF, along with senior leaders from LTAT and representatives from LTAT Group companies.
Larian Wira 2025 – Night Run successfully brought Malaysians together for a night of unity, fitness, and heartfelt appreciation for the brave men and women who serve the nation. It was a powerful reflection of the theme “For Our Heroes” – a tribute to our national heroes.
