The Manjung Municipal Council Stadium is taking on a vibrant new look as its walls are transformed into a community mural, painted by students from the Tunas Seni programme in collaboration with Vale Malaysia and the women-led art collective, Lakar by Mekar.

Held under the theme “Conservation Through Art,” the Tunas Seni Mural Project offers students a creative platform to express themselves while fostering unity and connection. Through a series of workshops led by female artists from Lakar by Mekar, students explored painting techniques and artistic expression before bringing their ideas to life on the stadium walls.

The mural spans approximately two blocks and features a vibrant design inspired by themes of nature, harmony and community spirit.

A key highlight of the initiative was Hari Melukis Komuniti (Community Painting Day), held on Saturday, 20 September 2025. The event brought together students, artists, Vale employees and members of the public to collectively complete the mural creating a joyful, colourful atmosphere and nurturing a sense of pride among the people of Manjung.

This mural project was supported by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), reflecting a shared commitment to empowering communities and enriching the local environment through art.

Vale Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Leonardo Paiva, said: “We believe art is a bridge that connects communities. Through the Tunas Seni mural project, Vale hopes to empower the younger generation, celebrate the role of women in art, and leave behind a visual legacy that will be remembered in Manjung.

Scheduled for completion by the end of September, the mural will stand as a new landmark and a symbol of identity for Manjung a collective story painted in colour, hope and togetherness.

This project forms part of Vale’s Community Development Programme 2.0 (CDP 2.0), a RM16 million, three-year holistic community investment initiative designed to uplift the Manjung community through education, environmental conservation and socio-economic empowerment. The mural reflects CDP 2.0’s long-term commitment to building a brighter and more inclusive future for the district.
