To enhance fire prevention and preparedness, Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or “Group”) recently conducted its annual fire drill exercise for the safety and security of Tropicana HQ and all its employees and tenants on 25 November 2025. A total of 750 occupants were led by 44 floor wardens and 1 fire marshal, to ensure everyone is familiar with the building’s evacuation procedures, the emergency exits, and the designated assembly point. The exercise involved the cooperation of 8 officers from Bomba & Rescue Department, Damansara, and representatives from IOI Mall Damansara. This safety exercise, together with Tropicana’s Health and Safety Framework, forms an integral part of the Group’s ESG commitments, with a strong focus on employee well-being, safe working conditions, and meaningful community engagement.

Michelle Pow, Senior General Manager of Administration for Tropicana, thanked the Bomba team as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") committee for conducting the exercise and emphasised the importance of holding such drills at least once a year. “These exercises are essential for testing the building’s emergency systems, fire equipment, and staff readiness. It also prepares employees for real emergencies by practicing evacuation procedures, reducing panic, and minimising response times. With the help of 8 officers from the Bomba & Rescue Department Damansara, this initiative also gave us a chance to engage them to review our safety plans and route, ensuring an effective response time during an emergency. Tropicana is also equipped with an AED unit, a first aid kit, a wheelchair, a stretch bed, and a sick bay. All 44 floor wardens and the fire marshal also received the necessary training.”

Mohd Shahir Bin Aziz, Operations Officer of Bomba & Rescue Department Damansara, who led the fire drill, shared his positive feedback, “There was great cooperation from Tropicana and our appointed floor wardens and fire marshal today. This fire drill exercise went smoothly, and we’re proud to have provided support and shared safety tips to drive continuous improvements.”
The exercise simulated an uncontrollable fire scenario where an immediate evacuation was initiated. Floor wardens activated emergency procedures, guiding all staff down the stairwells to a designated safe zone. The scenario also included one simulated casualty who was safely transported using an evacuation wheelchair, treated at the assembly point, and prepared for transfer to the nearest hospital.
Tropicana will continue to improve its safety and security measures for its employees’ and tenants' well-being. For more information about the fire drill and the exercise, visit www.dosh.gov.my/en/.
