ILMU Claw: The Malaysian AI that doesn’t just answer — it acts

If you’ve seen the buzz around ILMU Claw and assumed it is just another AI tool to learn, here’s the good news — it’s a smarter upgrade to what you already use.

ILMU Claw takes that a step further.

While platforms like ChatGPT or Claude provide information, ILMU Claw is built to act — executing tasks, automating workflows, and functioning as a digital concierge for both individuals and businesses.

And for Malaysia’s growing AI ecosystem, that distinction matters.

OpenClaw is an open-source framework that connects AI to real-world tools — integrating with platforms like WhatsApp, managing workflows, and orchestrating tasks across systems. Whereas, ILMU Claw is the intelligence behind it. It’s the Malaysian-hosted AI model OpenClaw calls when your assistant needs to reason, respond, or make decisions.

World-class AI with a Malaysian advantage

ILMU, also known as Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu, is a reflection of Malaysian intelligence, built in Malaysia for Malaysians.

Developed by YTL AI Labs and launched in April 2026, ILMU Claw is part of the broader ILMU ecosystem. Critically, it is hosted entirely on Malaysian infrastructure via the YTL AI Cloud, assuring users greater control over how their data is processed, secured, and governed.

“For the everyday consumer, ILMU Claw allows you to pre-plan your meetings, plan complex travel itineraries, automatically manage a cluttered email inbox, or intelligently organise a daily schedule. On the corporate side, businesses can deploy these same tools to handle frontline customer support, automate tedious backend operations, and streamline massive internal workflows,” said Foong Chee Mun, CEO of YTL AI Labs

Powered by ILMU-Nemo-Nano, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, ILMU Claw combines enterprise-grade AI performance with local hosting, offering organisations greater control over how their data is processed, secured, and governed. For businesses exploring AI adoption, that solves one of the biggest barriers to deployment: how to scale AI without sending sensitive data beyond national borders.

While most advanced AI systems require companies to route data through foreign infrastructure, ILMU Claw keeps the entire workflow on Malaysian soil. For enterprises handling regulated, confidential, or operationally sensitive information, this offers a more secure path to adoption without compromising on performance.

To support enterprise deployment, the platform is built on an NVIDIA reference stack with added security layers, privacy safeguards, and policy controls, giving organisations tighter oversight of how AI agents operate in production.

The timing is significant. As Malaysian companies move from AI experimentation to implementation, demand is shifting toward systems that are not only capable but secure, governable, and locally hosted.“OpenClaw has quickly become one of the world’s fastest-growing open-source AI agent projects, reaching nearly 250,000 GitHub stars in under six months. Here in Kuala Lumpur, that global momentum is resonating locally, with a rapidly growing builder community and consecutive OpenClaw events drawing strong participation from developers, founders, and enterprise teams,” said Foong.

ILMU Claw also joins the wider ILMU ecosystem developed by YTL AI Labs, which includes ILMUchat, the company’s consumer-facing conversational AI platform currently in public beta. Together, these tools reflect a broader push to build practical AI products in Malaysia designed for real-world use.

A full-stack AI suite

The ILMU Model is designed to give developers and enterprises a full-stack AI toolkit, with each model purpose-built for a specific task. At its core is ILMU-text, a general-purpose model built for text generation and reasoning. It supports advanced instruction following, multilingual understanding, and built-in thinking capabilities, making it well-suited for everything from enterprise copilots to complex workflows.

For visual tasks, ILMU-vision handles image understanding with advanced OCR capabilities, including both printed and handwritten text. This makes it especially useful for document processing, visual inspection, and extracting information from real-world images.

On the audio side, ILMU-asr provides high-accuracy speech-to-text transcription with strong Bahasa Malaysia support, reliable noise resilience, and low word error rates — ideal for call transcription, voice interfaces, and spoken content analysis.

For lighter workloads, ILMU-mini offers a faster and more cost-efficient option. Optimised for speed, it is ideal for simple tasks such as text generation, summarisation, and basic instruction following, where efficiency matters most.

To power semantic search and retrieval, ILMU-embedding converts text into high-quality vector representations for use cases such as search, clustering, recommendation, and retrieval-augmented generation.

For voice output, ILMU-tts delivers clear and natural text-to-speech generation with strong support for Malaysian languages, enabling more localised and accessible voice experiences.

Beyond single-input models, ILMU-multimodal combines text and image understanding to generate clear, context-aware outputs, making it useful for workflows that require reasoning across multiple input types.

Rounding out the stack is ILMU-websearch, a real-time web search capability that retrieves reliable, up-to-date information to enhance responses with current context and factual grounding.

The ILMU Claw Free plan provides an entry-level five million tokens at absolutely no cost. For heavier users, the Starter plan is priced at RM25 per month for fifty million tokens, while power users can opt for the Pro tier, which delivers one hundred and fifty million tokens for RM50 per month.
