Against the backdrop of rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation and evolving global trade patterns, the 14th World Chinese Economic Forum (WCEF) will convene on 25 August 2026 at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong, bringing together policymakers, business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and technology innovators from around the world.

Organised by the International Strategy Institute (ISI), the Forum will be held under the theme "Global Chinese in the Age of AI: Leadership, Capital and Connectivity", reflecting the increasingly important role of AI in reshaping industries, capital flows, international trade and regional economic cooperation.

The one-day forum will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming the competitiveness of businesses, economies and global Chinese enterprises. Discussions will explore emerging opportunities arising from digital transformation, cross-border investment, technological innovation and supply chain realignment, while highlighting the role of the global Chinese business community in driving sustainable economic growth across Asia and beyond.

A key highlight of this year's edition is its strategic collaboration with the 2026 Global Innovation Show & Global Innovation Summit (GIS), one of Asia's leading technology and innovation platforms. The joint initiative is expected to bring together international investors, technology companies, start-ups and policymakers to promote the commercialisation of emerging technologies and strengthen innovation partnerships across global markets.

Chairman of the International Strategy Institute, C.Y. Cheah, said the Forum comes at a pivotal moment as economies worldwide adapt to the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence.

"Artificial intelligence is no longer simply a technological innovation. It is fundamentally reshaping economic competitiveness, investment strategies and international trade. The 14th World Chinese Economic Forum aims to provide a platform where government leaders, businesses, investors and innovators can exchange ideas and develop practical collaborations for the future economy."

The Forum's opening ceremony will feature welcoming addresses by C.Y. Cheah, Chairman of ISI, together with an opening keynote by H.E. Dato' Norman bin Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to China. The programme will also include high-level discussions on AI, economic transformation and the future competitiveness of global Chinese economies.

Since its establishment in 2009, the World Chinese Economic Forum has evolved into one of the region's recognised platforms for international economic dialogue, connecting governments, investors, entrepreneurs and academics while promoting cooperation in trade, investment, innovation and regional development.

Held in Hong Kong, one of Asia's premier international financial centres, the 14th WCEF is expected to strengthen economic connectivity between ASEAN, Greater China and international markets, while reinforcing collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and cross-border investment at a time of significant global economic transformation.
