Malaysia's rapid industrial growth brings increasing responsibility for the safe management of scheduled waste. As one of the nation's trusted integrated scheduled waste management providers, J&T Naza Alam Murni Sdn. Bhd. (JNA) continues to play a vital role in protecting the environment while supporting sustainable industrial development.

Operating the Sustainable Scheduled Waste Treatment Centre (SSWTC) in Bukit Tagar Enviro Park (BTEP), JNA provides comprehensive treatment and final disposal solutions covering all 76 Scheduled Waste (SW) codes regulated under Malaysia's Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations. The facility serves a broad spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, petrochemicals, electronics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, automotive, oil and gas, and chemical processing.

Every scheduled waste received undergoes strict Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) assessment at JNA's ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory, where experienced analysts determine the waste characteristics and assign the most suitable treatment method. This scientific approach ensures regulatory compliance, operational safety and environmentally responsible waste management.

Advanced Treatment for Complex Scheduled Waste

Not all scheduled wastes are the same. Some contain toxic organic compounds, while others contain heavy metals or hazardous chemicals requiring specialised treatment.

At the heart of SSWTC is its advanced Rotary Kiln–Stoker Grate Scheduled Waste-to-Energy (SWTE) Incineration System, designed to safely destroy hazardous organic wastes under carefully controlled high-temperature conditions. In simple terms, the rotary kiln acts as the primary combustion chamber where wastes are thoroughly mixed and heated, while the stoker grate provides complete burnout of remaining materials to maximise destruction efficiency and minimise residual waste.

The system incorporates advanced air pollution control technologies to ensure emissions comply with the stringent requirements of Malaysia's Department of Environment (DOE). Every treatment activity is recorded and reported through the DOE's Electronic Scheduled Waste Information System (eSWIS), ensuring complete regulatory transparency and traceability.

Global Expertise Through Strategic Collaboration

JNA's technological capability is further strengthened through collaboration with JFE Engineering Corporation, Japan, a globally recognised engineering company with decades of expertise in environmental infrastructure and waste treatment technologies.

The partnership enables continuous knowledge transfer, engineering support and operational improvements, allowing JNA to adopt proven international best practices while addressing Malaysia's growing scheduled waste challenges. This collaboration ensures that SSWTC remains equipped with reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable technologies that meet both current and future industry needs.

Landfill: Protecting the Environment for the Long Term

While advanced treatment technologies significantly reduce waste volumes, not every scheduled waste can be completely eliminated. Certain treatment residues containing stable inorganic contaminants require permanent, environmentally secure disposal.

For these materials, SSWTC operates a Secured Landfill (SeLF) engineered using a double composite liner system that acts as multiple protective barriers between the waste and the surrounding soil and groundwater. A specially designed cover liner system is installed after landfill cells are filled, preventing rainwater infiltration while minimising environmental risks over the long term.

These engineered containment systems provide maximum environmental protection, ensuring full regulatory compliance while supporting long-term business sustainability.

Stabilisation and Solidification: Making Hazardous Waste Safe

Some scheduled wastes contain heavy metals or contaminants that can dissolve and migrate into the environment if left untreated.

Through stabilisation and solidification, these hazardous components are chemically immobilised within a stable matrix, significantly reducing their ability to leach into soil or groundwater. This process protects public health, safeguards natural resources and ensures that treated residues meet regulatory requirements before final disposal.

By transforming hazardous waste into a more stable and environmentally acceptable form, JNA minimises long-term environmental risks while supporting responsible waste management practices.

Excellence Built on International Standards

JNA's commitment to operational excellence is reflected through its internationally recognised certifications:

  • ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System

  • ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System

  • ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health & Safety Management System

  • ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – Testing & Calibration Laboratory Competence

These certifications strengthen business integrity, operational consistency and customer confidence while ensuring continual improvement across every aspect of the organisation.

The company has also earned the MyHIJAU Service Certification, recognising its contribution to Malaysia's green economy, alongside the Department of Environment's 3R Recognition, reflecting its commitment to waste minimisation, resource efficiency and circular economy practices.
