PUCHONG, 28 August 2026 — For ten years it was known as Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC). This October, Selangor's flagship technology convention returns under a new name — AiSEM@Selangor, the AI & Semiconductor Summit — a rebrand that Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) says reflects where the state's digital economy bet is actually landing: AI and semiconductors. The 11th edition runs 14 to 17 October at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, as one of the flagship components of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, under the theme “Designed By Malaysia: Building a Globally Competitive AI Semiconductor Ecosystem.” 

SDEC began as Selangor's smart city and e-commerce platform, featuring forums, exhibitions, and awards for the region's top digital players. As the digital economy matured, Al and semiconductors became the bigger opportunity. AiSEM@Selangor carries that forward, spotlighting homegrown Malaysian chips powering robotics, autonomous systems, and the low-altitude and low-orbit economies — organised by Sidec together and the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM), and hosted by the Selangor state government. 

AI & Semiconductor Summit 

Dr Chiang Shang Yi, the former TSMC co-Chief Operating Officer widely credited with steering the company's R&D through its most critical technology leaps — and currently a member of the Board of Directors at Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn) and also the Chairman of ShunSin Technology Holdings Limited, a semiconductor packaging and testing subsidiary of the Hon Hai Group. — headlines a summit lineup of more than 60 international speakers. He's joined by June Paik, Founder & CEO of Korean AI Chip company FuriousaAI. Robert Li, Global Vice President and Chairman of Synopsys Taiwan; Umar Shah, Head of Cloud Solutions for Semiconductor & HiTech at Amazon Web Services (AWS) ; Yon Wui Ng, CEO of TCab Tech ; . Over two days, sessions dig into chip design, AI infrastructure, talent development and cross-border investment — the throughline being Selangor's ambition to build a semiconductor ecosystem that is designed, not just assembled, in Malaysia. 

Exhibition 

More than 150 technology exhibitors will fill the show floor, running alongside the conference as a platform for companies across the semiconductor and AI supply chain to showcase their capabilities directly to investors, industry players and government stakeholders. Confirmed exhibitors include global chipmakers Intel and Sandisk, homegrown players such as Oppstar, SkyeChip and Maistorage Technology, alongside national agencies including MIDA and MRANTI, and a number of Selangor's local councils — reflecting the breadth of players, from chip design to city-level government, now engaging with the state's semiconductor and AI push. 

Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day 

For job seekers, the draw is the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day, where more than 50 industry employers — including Sandisk, Sophic MSC and Tektronix — will meet directly with engineering and technical talent, from students to experienced professionals. Beyond walk-in interviews and company spotlights, the three days will feature the ChampionCHIP Competition Demo Day and an international networking session with delegations from Japan and the UK. It's part of Sidec's broader push, through ASEM, to build a domestic talent pipeline for Malaysia's semiconductor sector — addressing one of the ecosystem's most pressing needs as investment into the industry accelerates. A dedicated release with the full employer line-up and hiring numbers will follow closer to the event. 

Triple Accelerator Programme Demo Day 

The summit opens with pitches, not panels: the Triple Accelerator Programme Grand Final Demo Day, taking place at the Plenary Theatre, KLCC, on 14 October 2026. In the lead-up, the Top 8 companies from each of Selangor's Deep-X, Retail-X and Token-X tracks will be revealed, rounding out a total of 24 finalists competing for top honours — including further exposure to investors and strategic partners, mentorship, funding access, and market expansion support. Since its inception, the programme has run 11 cohorts, drawn nearly 1,900 applications, and backed 380 companies that have collectively raised RM212 million in funding — context for what's at stake when this year's finalists take the stage. 

“Building a globally competitive AI semiconductor ecosystem isn't a slogan for us, it's the work. Selangor sees itself as one part of a national semiconductor story, and AiSEM — designed by Malaysia, for Malaysia — is our contribution to writing it, by putting talent, technology and investment in the same room, in the same week,” said Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive Officer of Sidec.
