KPJ Healthcare Berhad (“KPJ Healthcare” or “the Group”) yesterday launched PROM-Connect, a digital platform designed to support the systematic collection and management of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (“PROMs”) across its hospital network. The initiative advances the Group’s Value-Based Care transformation under the KPJ Health System, Malaysia’s first private Academic Health System.

Alongside clinical and operational measures, PROMs capture patient’s own assessment of their health outcomes, functional status and quality of life throughout their care journey. PROM-Connect brings patient engagement, questionnaire distribution, reminders, response tracking and outcome monitoring into one digital platform, creating a structured digital process for collecting and managing this information across KPJ.

Johor Specialist Hospital (“JSH”) serves as the pilot implementation site for PROM-Connect. The PROM programme is currently progressing across 14 KPJ hospitals, while the Group is working towards implementation readiness across 19 hospitals by the end of 2026. Hospitals with established PROM programmes, governance and workflows will be progressively onboarded onto PROM-Connect, with further expansion planned from 2027.

Professor Dato’ Dr Hanafiah Harunarashid, Officer-in-Charge of KPJ Healthcare said, “Clinical outcomes remain fundamental to how we assess care, but they do not always tell us how patients experience their recovery or whether treatment has improved their daily lives. PROMs help fill that gap. For KPJ, the value of PROM-Connect is not in the technology alone. It allows us to bring the patient’s perspective into how we assess care and identify areas for improvement. The real measure is whether these insights lead us to make better decisions about care and, ultimately, better outcomes for our patients.”

Following the pilot at JSH, the Group will focus on stabilising the implementation, refining workflows and gathering user feedback before PROM-Connect is introduced progressively across other hospitals based on their readiness. The technology is intended to complement the clinical and operational processes behind PROM implementation, with hospital ownership, clinician engagement, multidisciplinary collaboration and patient participation remaining essential to its success.

PROM-Connect also reflects the wider KPJ Health System model, where clinical care, education and research reinforce one another to continuously improve care. Patient-reported outcomes are an important part of this cycle, turning patients’ experiences into insights that can inform improvement across the system, in line with its purpose of Care for Life.
