Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) by-election Pang Sock Tao said her manifesto for KKB will be based on four pillars: economy, environmental, heritage and cultural, and the welfare of the people.

“If entrusted with the responsibility to represent the people of KKB, I will be dedicated to deliver exemplary service and uphold the legacy of the late Lee Kee Hiong, who has served the constituency for 3 terms."

Tourism as an economic driver for KKB

Pang stated that KKB is famous for its eco-tourism activities such as hiking in Bukit Kutu, exploring waterfalls, and mountain biking. With its strategic location, she aims to establish KKB as a renowned holiday destination.

The town also has many historical sites and natural beauty, which have the potential to attract tourists. "If given the mandate, I will work together with the local and state government to preserve KKB as a heritage and cultural site. Just like its natural beauty, the historical remnants in KKB are a heritage that we must preserve," she said.

Ease of transportation

In KKB, there are towns, villages, and residential areas in need of additional Smart Selangor Bus services that can be linked to the commuter line. This is to provide better connectivity to the Klang Valley. Pang intends to enhance the bus facilities in these areas and increase tourist van services to accommodate tourists.

Conserving the environment

In terms of the environment, the Hulu Selangor district is covered by 50% permanent reserved forest, additionally, the area also provides water supply to a large part of the Selangor population. "Therefore, the balance between environmental preservation and development needs to be prioritised," she said.

Taking care people’s welfare

"I will implement existing policies to aid those in need of support. Furthermore, for the youth, I aspire to initiate initiatives such as providing training tailored to the needs of current industries”.

"The welfare of youth and women is also close to my heart and it is certainly among plans and policies (I plan) to be included in my (campaign) manifesto," she said when met by reporters.

KKB residents urges people to vote

Shahril, from Bandar Utama Batang Kali, stated that although she is young, Pang has a lot of experience in governance and has proven her ability as a respected leader.

Zakiah, a voter from KKB, stated that in this by-election, we should focus on economic issues and local development for the well-being of the residents, as proposed by Pang. She hopes that the PH candidate will continue to actively safeguard the welfare of the people of KKB.

Opah, a voter from the KKB state constituency, said she hopes that the reforms proposed by Pang will be able to inherit the efforts of the late Lee Kee Hiong. "I hope Kuala Kubu Bharu remains with PH," she said.

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, urges all KKB voters to support PH candidate, Pang Sock Tao.

The Election Commission has set May 11 as the polling day, and early voting on May 7.
