Ten out of 13 states are under Umno Baru control. By normal standards, these 10 states should provide enough to satisfy any PM’s needs, but apparently, not Najib Abdul Razak’s alleged avarice. The PM’s fingerprints are all over the allegedly kleptocratic Umno Baru government.

First, the ‘Perak Plunder’ of 2009, when the former MB, Nizar Jamaluddin, was kicked out of office and replaced with Najib’s man.

Second, in the ‘Terengganu Tussle’ of 2014, the wedding of former MB Ahmad Said’s daughter was used as a red herring to oust him from office. It is alleged that Najib and Ahmad Said disagreed about 1MDB using the state’s oil and gas industry as collateral.

Third, in 2015, we learnt that a foreign donation of RM2.6 billions was used for the 13th general election (GE13). No one gives away money. What strings were attached to this ‘donation’? Did the Saudis want further access, to infiltrate young minds to their brand of Islam?

One might as well ask, what is the difference between Islamic State (IS) and the Saudi Arabian regime? The former claims it wants to establish a caliphate, the latter is already recognised around the world and has a presence at the United Nations. Apart from that, both punish by cutting off limbs and beheading people, both abhor women and non-Muslims, both destroy architectural and historical sites.

Incredibly, the Saudi Finance Ministry claims to have “no information” about the donation. So, should Najib be allowed to smear another royal family’s name, just to save his own skin?

Fourth, what damage will Najib do in the next Sarawak election?

Fifth, the people of Kedah, will soon receive Najib’s ‘Kedah Kiss’. This article goes to print before Mukhriz Mahathir’s fate is known. Will he continue as MB? If he is ousted, his father is going to act like a wounded beast and be more dangerous to Najib.

Just before GE13, Najib talked about reform. We have yet to see these reforms. The Internal Security Act (ISA) was abolished, but he introduced acts which make the ISA seem like a utopian dream. The new National Security Council (NSC) Bill allows Najib to destroy our lives and our democracy.

Najib promised transformation. Malaysia has transformed from bad to worse. The cost of living has increased, and many freedoms were stolen from us.

Decades of hard work by PAS’ former leaders disappeared when PAS president Hadi Awang was seduced by Najib’s overtures.

PAS said that it was not interested in teaming-up with Umno Baru. In the next breath, it talks about Malay unity and the importance of protecting Islam, by working with Umno Baru.

Mixed messages

Mixed messages do not endear the rakyat to PAS. The non-Muslims are unlikely to vote PAS in GE14. This is what Umno Baru wants, because it knows Malays are unlikely to vote for DAP. The scene is set for Umno Baru to sweep away the opposition in GE14.

PAS is keen on hudud law, always citing the ‘fair’ punishment for stealing or adultery. What about the punishment for corruption? Or are the leaders in PAS blind to the leaders who steal the rakyat’s money? Does PAS condone leaders who take money from foreign sources? No one gives money away without conditions.

PAS’ indifference about the ‘donation’ is puzzling. When opposition MPs held up placards in Parliament which said, “Mana RM2.6 bilion?” (Where is the RM2.6 billion?), they were joined by only two of the 14 PAS MPs. Hadi claimed that PAS are not “street protesters” because PAS, “...explains, not attack”.

He said, “PAS practices a form of democracy that has proper manners.”

Perhaps Hadi does not realise that democracy allegedly died in Malaysia in 1969. Some people allege that the seeds of disharmony were sown by Najib’s father, Abdul Razak Hussein, in 1969. Today, the son continues the father’s work, but not as subtly as his father.

Najib wants Umno Baru and PAS to team-up, ostensibly to unite Malays and Muslims.

Who is Najib to talk about Malay unity when his party is fractured, and he wages war on some of Umno Baru’s own people, like Kedah MB Mukhriz? Najib wants Mukhriz’s scalp, so that he can rule for as long as, or possibly longer than, Mahathir.

Greedy people are never satisfied. Najib’s desire for more has made him lose sight of the needs of the nation.
