COMMENT | What goes around comes around. And this time, statutory declarations (SD) - which once gave power to Muhyiddin Yassin - have hit the Bersatu president like a boomerang.
In 2020, after toppling the Pakatan Harapan government by leading Bersatu out of the coalition, SDs installed Muhyiddin as prime minister.
Then, in the aftermath of the 2022 general election, Muhyiddin attempted to use SDs from a group of BN lawmakers to return to power.
He was quite bitter when his SDs were not accepted and Anwar Ibrahim was made premier instead, and still talked about it two years after the election.
These instances showed that Muhyiddin had no problems using SDs as a means of attaining power.
