Give the Gift of Heart Health this Father’s Day

(Advertorial)

Our fathers want to make all our dreams come true and for their unselfish strife they deserve to have fulfilling, healthy and long lives. Although they will say the joy of watching us achieve our dreams is enough, as children we can give them a lot more. We can give them the gift of health so they can share in the dreams of many generations to come.

Did You Know? Younger men suffer from heart disease due high cholesterol
According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2011, high cholesterol or hypercholesterolemia is one of the main risk factors leading to a rise from 20.7 per cent in 2006 to 35.1 per cent in 2010 in the number of people suffering from cardiovascular disease.

A large number of men below the age of 40 have high cholesterol which, if left untreated, can lead to an untimely death. Many of these men have children and these children may never enjoy the love of their father while growing up.

The Way to a Man’s Heart
One of the ways to lower cholesterol is to have a daily diet that is low in cholesterol and saturated fat, and high in dietary fibre. Vegetables, fruits and grains such as oats are good source of fibre.

The soluble fibre in oats called beta-glucan has been clinically proven to help reduce blood cholesterol by consuming at least 3g a day. In 1997, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved its first ever health claim: “Beta-glucan from oats may reduce the risk of heart disease if it is part of a low fat diet”.
