News portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) has denied accusations of a shift in editorial policy, vowing to remain free and independent.
In a posting on its portal today, FMT said it would continue to provide readers with up-to-date news and critical political analysis.
“Lately, we have been accused of compromising our core values and mission. These are allegations that we take seriously.
“Accordingly, we are executing a new plan in our editorial content and reorganising our team,” read the article.
FMT also confirmed that its chief editor K Kabilan has left the company to pursue other opportunities and has been replaced by M Menon.
“We are still subscription-free and independent of any political influence,” said the news portal linked to businessman Soh Chee Wen ( right ).
Meanwhile, Malaysiakini learned that following a report published yesterday regarding the arrears in Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contributions, the management has settled the outstanding amount.
It was reported yesterday that the news portal was hit by a slew of resignations stemming from disagreements between the editorial and top management over various issues.
It was also speculated that the news portal intended to become more BN-friendly.
