I would like to extend my solidarity to MP Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) for what she is going through now.

When I first heard that Fong won a seat in parliament at such a young age, I was very excited. That she is a woman is an added plus. I thought to myself, here at last is someone from my generation who will be truly representing us (young women) in parliament. True enough, not only has she touched on issues about women, but also on various others, the last being the Certificate in Legal Practice fiasco.

But alas, with her six-month suspension from her duty for allegedly bringing shame to parliament by criticising the speaker, once again we are shown the true colours of our so-called democratic system.

My words to Fong: Hang in there; there is a big group of people just waiting and watching.

And it is really no surprise some Barisan Nasional women MPs gave you patronising advice; coming from a totally different political culture, you are seen as revolutionary!
