We refer to the Malaysiakini report Kugan's body 'tampered with' charge hardly gels .

In the publication of this report on March 11, you have published a comment by one ‘Richard’ in response to a letter entitled Kugan's death a reminder of systemic weaknesses . The content of the comment is set out in verbatim below:

‘As I suspected, the Serdang Hospital Hosp is ISO 9001:2000 certified by Sirim.

‘In theory, the Serdang Hosp, by virtue of its ISO 9001 implementation, has to transparently provide Kugan's family with what went wrong.

‘In reality, this ISO 9001 reporting on what went wrong and how to correct it and whether the correction was effective, will have to be fought in the courts.

‘Yes, Sirim-QAS has to worry because it's involved with the above certification.’

The reference of Sirim and Sirim-QAS made by the commentator is, in fact, referring to Sirim-QAS International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sirim Berhad.

Sirim QAS International has never certified Hospital Serdang for ISO 9001:2000 as alleged.

The comments are false, misleading, unjustified and constitute a slander against our reputation and credibility as the leading certification, inspection and testing body in Malaysia.
