In reply to Allen's 'Team A or Team B, MCA's still irrelevant' (Jan 2),I think the author does not know what he is writing about.

To say "MCA is simply irrelevant as it does not represent the hopes of the Chinese" is plain ignorance and to suggest that "whether Team A or Team B wins, who cares? Who benefits if Team A or Team B wins and gets to be the favourite 'running dog' of Umno? Only they and their cronies", shows how shallow-minded the writer is.

It's like ridiculously declaring that, "all politicians are the same" or "politicians are corrupt".

As long as citizens like Allen remain ignorant or indifferent to the bigger socio-economic structure, things in this country will never change for the better.

It's time we Malaysians realise that the power to change the future lies in our own hands. If we choose to ignore the things that are happening around us, the powers that be will continue to hold on to power.

Incompetent corrupt politicians will continue to sit on their throne till they go to their grave because voters like Allen chose to look away thinking that things can never change.

We say, "all politicians are the same" and "politicians are corrupt" and rather spend hours watching bikini-clad Baywatch girls or childish Wah Lai Toi game shows than cast one precious vote that could determine the future of the nation.

We do nothing with our lot in life though we feel we are paying too much for our apartment and cars.

The excitement over MCA Team A versus Team B is not only over a bunch of hopeless politicians but a David-versus-Goliath type resistance that plaques society from France to East Timor.

True, whoever wins the MCA battle may turn out to be just as repressive and traitorous, but I am willing to take my chances. We must exercise our rights conferred to us by the Federal Constitution and, to the best of our individual abilities.

The people of France, Russia, China and the Philippines did not sit on their couch complaining, "all politicians are the same" and "politicians are corrupt" and expect heaven to deal with the tyrants!

It is time we put things into perspective. It's time we make politicians realise that they work for us and not vice versa.

And it can only be done when we wake up from our "all politicians are the same" and "politicians are corrupt" mentality!
