In the wake of the current MCA crisis, it is ultimately important to establish the prevalent mood of the Chinese community at large. The Chinese have to admit that there is a political and social crisis within the community which needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

As we see and hear, a lot of 'dirty linen' is being washed in public. It is certainly damaging and dangerous to allow the dirt to be swapped under the carpet. How could the ' thong pow ' (comrades) men behave as if nothing is breaking them up within the association and society?

Come on, let's be honest with ourselves and help build a strong and vibrant Chinese community within the political leverage under the concept of Barisan Nasional. I am sure Dr Ling Liong Sik, Lim Ah Lek, Chua Jui Meng, Chan Kong Choy and the controversial Ong Tee Keat know the political role of the Chinese community in supporting Barisan Nasional.

Of course, the Chinese are relevant, if not more than the other communities, to enhance the strength and political will and power of our Barisan Nasional leadership. Umno has its role and responsibility but we must also realise that just like any other political party, there will be power struggles within Umno and the external pressure.

Anyway, political survival is all about a democratic way of governance that is acceptable to the majority and there will always be the fence sitters and perhaps some black sheep and hypocrites who stir up a crisis and take opportunity when the leadership is weak and cracking.

As far as Malaysia is concerned, we have emerged strong, healthy and prosperous more than 44 years after Merdeka. We have done well and thank God the nation, under the dynamic past and present leadership, has survived crisis after crisis.

We all know that the nation depends by and large on the fatherly leadership being provided by our beloved Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Let's face the truth and accept that we should not be seen to impose tremendous political, economic as well as social burdens on Dr Mahathir.

Indeed Dr Mahathir today does not belong only to Malaysia and we are proud to share his approach and vision with the rest of the world in the name of humanity.

As Malaysians, let's fold our arms together and preserve this gifted and beloved number one citizen of our nation and more importantly to constantly pray for Dr Mahathir's continued good health to lead us out of yet another political and economic crisis as well as to jointly face the constant threat of the unseen external forces ready to destroy us in so many ways.

My family and I always pray for Dr Mahathir's good health so that he can continue to lead this beautiful nation of ours for many more years to come. Don't get me wrong, we have never glorified Dr Mahathir as we are not opportunists who seek wealth or glory out of our connection along the corridors of power.

In conclusion, I hope that with sincerity and the spirit of solidarity, MCA will emerge stronger after the Indera Kayangan by-election which is regarded as the acid test not only for national unity, but more importantly it will reflect the true support for Dr Mahathir.

So work hard to win the hearts and minds of the people, but please do not burden Dr Mahathir too much as he belongs to all of us and not just a particular community in order to remain strong, both mentally and physically.

Wake up, think and do things the right way and not 'my way' all the time. We salute Dr Mahathir today, tomorrow and forever. May Allah bless you, your family and the nation.
