As a Chinese-educated Chinese Malaysian, I am very disappointed with DAP's decision

to ban its leaders and members from going to campaign for another opposition party in Indera Kayangan.

The by-election in Indera Kayangan is an important opportunity for the Chinese education movement. Many issues relating to Chinese education throughout the country have yet to be settled.

As citizens of this country, Chinese Malaysians have the right to pressure the government through democratic channels, like elections, to fulfil all its promises to them.

As a predominantly-Chinese party, DAP should have set aside petty differences and joined in the campaign to assist Keadilan, or at least its Chinese candidate, to win so that the voices of the Chinese education activists are heard and taken seriously.

If DAP is not willing to support the Chinese education campaign, then we Chinese Malaysians might as well abandon DAP altogether and join and support Keadilan or PRM which are more liberal and democratic.

What is the use of rooting for DAP if it is unwilling to support the Chinese education cause at the right moment?
