Burmese military junta discriminates against Muslims
Thank you for starting to publish some Burmese news, especially independent news from the third party.
I would like to inform the world through malaysiakini about the latest racial and religious discrimination by the Burmese military government.
The military junta refuses to issue passports to all Muslims in Burma. This ruling has no exception for any race as long as the person's religion is Islam. Even Burmese Muslims, Chinese Muslims, Indian Muslims, Rohingya Muslims, Shan Muslims, Karen Muslims and even pure-blood Burmese Buddhists converted to Islam are denied Burmese passports starting from last October.
Even those who are holding the Burmese passport are stopped at the exit point at Rangoon airport.
All countries in the world should stop recognising the Burmese military government-issued new passports if the government does not stop the discrimination. Recently, Malaysia started to recognise and accept Burmese workers.
The Myanmar Ex-military Welfare Association had monopolised all the workers' permits and send only relatives of the military abroad, and most of them ended up in Malaysia.
So it is interesting to note that the so-called Islamic country, Malaysia, has closed her eyes to this blatant racial and religious discrimination committed by its adopted 'son', the Burmese junta, and opening its doors to the children and relatives of the military, all of whom are non-Muslims.
