I refer to the Malaysiakini report Ku Li 'What RM60 billion?' .

Firstly, I would like to say that I am no economic wit or an expert, just a simple lay man and understands only lay man terms.

It was not too long that our prime minister designate said the Malaysian economy is doing very well and most of us do not have to worry. Look at what's happening now!

1. Massive lay-offs by multinational companies, local SMEs and SMIs

2. Graduates without jobs

3. Declining number of projects in the market

4. Massive number of returning workers from overseas so can Malaysia provide them jobs?

5. Stimulus packages, one after another in terms of billions of ringgit.

The person who made this comment obviously does not know what he is talking about. And where did he get his economic lessons from?

Here we are, having to listen to more bad news everyday about this friend or that having problems getting projects and may have to close shop or another saying he cannot afford to pay his staff anymore.

Let me just ask this PM designate of ours this few questions;

1. You mentioned that the first stimulus package was RM10 billion. You also mentioned that RM7 billion has been disbursed to various agencies for distribution.

Which are these agencies? Another government ‘secret’ that cannot be revealed? Otherwise our PM-designate may face OSA prosecution?

2. Have these agencies started distributing this RM7 billion yet? Who are the beneficiaries? SMEs? SMIs? GLCs? What? Oops! Another government secret that cannot be revealed? OSA again?

3. Where is the other RM3 billion? Where? Which agencies got it? Whom are they going to be distributed to?

There are more questions than answers because the government of the day choses to keep quiet and hide under draconian laws like OSA to hoodwink the rakyat .

Frankly, what do most people think of the second stimulus package of RM60 billion?

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has bluntly put it, 'what RM60 billion?'

Firstly, this is just a 'rescue package' for some government-linked corporations like Proton.

It may sound nice and everyone that's hoping to get a new car can now get one but only from the national car manufacturers. Why don't you extend this to other car companies in Malaysia?

This deal stinks of Proton being rescued from the doldrums because they know in the next quarter and subsequently after that, Proton sales are going to be in a spiral downturn if they don't rescue it quickly. Where to put the face lah ?

Proton has been adamant that they do not need a partner. They spoke too soon. Try going back to the companies you negotiated with earlier; they will tell you that Proton is not worth the salt they have.

Secondly, our neighbour down south has seen a few quarters of negative growth so how come we are still doing better than them? At least they are honest with their rakyat .

Whom are you trying to kid? At least be honest and not massage the figures just to fool the rakyat .

The rakyat are the ones feeling the day-to-day pinch, not you. Everything that you eat, use, drive, wear, your salary, your allowances, your yearly trips' entitlement are all being paid for by the rakyat ’s hard earned money.
