Pak Lah, with the rakyat behind you, you can win
Dear Pak Lah,
With due respect and a very troubled heart, I decided to write this letter to you, to request for your very wise and discreet action, to save Malaysia from plunging into an abysmal dark age, which is looming larger by the day.
Please be informed that I write as a collective voice of a vast majority of my contemporaries of Malaysian origin from different walks of life, on this side of Malaysia. I also speak as a concerned woman, wife, mother and grandmother for the benefit of the innocent, vulnerable young generations of Malaysians now and in the days to come.
It is with extreme heart-wrenching anguish of the soul and spirit that I pen my strong convictions. My peers and I are not members of any political party. We are contented as long as peace and security reign in our nation. We are peace-loving simple folk who delight in righteous living and freedom of life in the context of true and genuine democracy.
Ever since the March 8, 2008 election results, we have seen far too many frenzied displays of injustices hurled against the general public (especially towards the opposition MPs and their supporters) in a very reckless manner. It saddens us to see lopsided justice being churned out with open eyes and democracy being battered ruthlessly to death, daily.
The chaotic excess use of the ISA, the Sedition Acts etc, on top of all the endless culture of corruptions and briberies, unsolved murders, mysterious disappearances of key-witnesses of murder cases, the reversals of statutory declarations, the unethical and unconstitutional overthrow of the Pakatan Rakyat-held government of Perak and more underhanded tactics are all a far-cry from true democracy.
We fear you may hand the nation over to a new breed of tyrants (without conscience) who know not the meaning of true democracy. Democracy is the freedom of speech and expression and is to be enjoyed by all citizens in a democratic nation. A democratic nation must have a democratic government of the people, elected by the people, for the people. Unfortunately, in Malaysia, the minute certain citizens exercise their democratic rights of freedom of speech, they are instantly slapped with the ISA, the Sedition Act etc. That, to us, is most undemocratic. And a gross injustice.
Besides that, our judiciary and our police force are riddled with questionable characters of all sorts from the lowest level to the highest. How then, may I ask, can the ordinary folks like us feel secure and safe? These are the people who are supposed to be the guardians of justice and security but they turn out to be the ‘most-feared’ (in a negative way, I’m sad to say) arms of the law.
Even though we are just simple folk, we are well able to see the use of lopsided double-standard justice that has been going on lately. It is indeed a sad and far from democratic, scenario. Please, Pak Lah, don’t misunderstand. We are not faulting you. We can see how you played into your enemies’ unscrupulous hands. They orchestrated the chaos and the mess so that your well-intentioned pledges for judicial reform, transparency and integrity could not be carried out. And then, they would bring the axe down on you, by convincing even you, that you didn’t have what it took to fulfill your pledges.
Thus, they were planning to make the whole nation point a finger at you, to make you give way even though your rightful term of PM was not over yet. You are rightfully our PM till the next general elections. So, may we urge you, for the sake of democracy and what you had pledged to carry out for the nation, to stay on as the country’s PM and carry out your pledges, without fear or favour. We will be behind you and with you if you need the assurance that many Malaysians see as we see.
We can yet be a force to be reckoned with if you need grassroots support to help champion judicial reform, transparency and integrity. We know you alone, with only a handful of supporters from within your own party, cannot accomplish your well-meant pledges. But with support from the general rakyat, you may yet fulfill your commitment. Personally, I feel that the recent series of national chaos initiated by Umno and Dr Mahathir Mohamad could be aimed at sidetracking you from your reform programmes so that they cannot materialise.
And, then, cunningly, they would all together, move in on you, to bend you till you agreed to vacate your premiership for Najib, even before your term is up. See through their game? All your failures and weaknesses were trumped up by your rivals/enemies who are very power-hungry /crazy. They knew you were close on their heels, especially Mahathir, so they had to undertake a complex and complete decoy to cause you to lose your vision.
Then they would zero in on you to accuse you and finally convince you that ‘You don’t have what it takes.’ They were so good that they even got Zaid Ibrahim to quit Umno. I hope our analysis has helped you see things more clearly and to be strengthened and encouraged to save our beloved country from being assailed/assaulted by these coming tyrants!
And, please, do not hand over your power to Najib Abdual Razak. If Najib is to succeed you, he has to succeed through the ballot box. Please tell him so.
Another possible plot against you is the mastermind in the name of Mahathir. Yes, he had quit Umno. But he is the greatest dramatist in Umno, perhaps in Malaysia. Beware of him and his hypocrisy. Never ever trust him, even when he sounds like he finally talking sense. Trust only the good and Almighty God! The just and fair and powerful God.
Again, before I conclude this letter, please, for the sake of Democracy and a democratic Malaysia, do not transfer your premiership to Najib mid-stream of your rightful term of being our prime minister.
We are praying for you and the whole nation. May you hear God’s voice only, the voice of peace /peacefulness, justice, righteousness and fairness (to all) and of freedom of democratic rights for the people.
We wish you the very best! God bless you and Datin Jean.
