I have penned down this letter about what we really want for our country and leaders. Just thought of sharing it.

Everyone has to reflect - how did we come to this situation today? What do we really want for our country; what we really want from our leaders?

In each of our hearts, I believe we share a common belief and I hope that it sounds like the following:

We want fairness in every system to be restored. We want our leaders to be able to answer and debate on their ideas, their credibility and their integrity. We want to be able to look to the MACC, the police, the judiciary and the legislative for help.

When there is an abuse of power by the government and VIPs we trust these institutions to be non-partisan. We want to see the same laws that do not discriminate against anyone for everyone must be seen as equal in the eyes of the law.

We want to believe that our leaders will always uphold the law and the federal constitution. We want politicians to put us as a priority instead of their parties or political coalitions.

We want to see more opportunities for everyone. We are not asking to be treated equal, but we hope there's no discrimination. We want to be able to hope that our country can survive this economy crisis.

We want to be able to sleep well because we have the utmost confidence in the ‘driver’ of the country to bring us through this great darkness. We want to be able to feed our families without worry.

We want to feel safe on our own streets. We want to have confidence that the police will be on our side to protect us when there's harm done. We want the freedom to listen to speech, to voice out our opinion, to have someone at least show that they are listening.

We want to hear the truth, to be able to put our trust and support in our leaders in these tiring times to heal the country. We wish that we are able to agree to disagree. We hope our leaders to be more sensitive, more responsive and more responsible towards us. We want to wake up everyday in high spirits.

No matter what race we are and despite our differences, I believe there are common hopes and common dreams that bind us together and that these ties will not break.

We need a different politics for this era. It has to be constructed from the best of our traditions and in doing so, we will have to account for the darker aspects of our past. We will need to understand how we got into this situation - a people divided in a united country.

We need someone like Obama to carry this message to give us the hope to heal Malaysia. This is too beautiful a country to turn our back to but unfortunately our current leaders do not bring any of these hopes to us, yet.

A new dawn has to come with a new hope of change, change that unites the people under a common goal and dream for a more progressive Malaysia.

The darkest night has also come to Malaysia, and now we need a new voice and a new hope to raise our spirits and strengthen the bond between Malaysians to work together to restore Malaysia to its original stature as when it was born.
