University students entered Barisan Nasional's operations centre identifying themselves as BN supporters. Then they are found 'spying' for the opposition. Reports are immediately submitted to the Education Ministry and the universities concerned for violation of perhaps, the offensive University and University Colleges Act.

If the students had been supporting BN and were campaigning for its candidate, it would simply meant that they were clean and law-abiding!

Then comes the defection of opposition party members to BN. Hardly was there an election without the so-called 'defections' since Mahathir Mohamad became prime minister. These are either concocted lies or if they are true, it invariably means a deal. Either 'big' money from the BN coffers or tempting patronage bought over these people.

MCA president Ling Liong Sik who had abruptly stopped criticising PAS, after meekly accepting Mahathir's interpretation of 'Islamic state' (coined by him as 'secular Islamic state') has accused of PAS having links with terrorist groups such as Al-Ma'unah and Kumpulan Militant Malaysia. Ling is in a state of confusion after hard hit by ''Team B'' led by his deputy Lim Ah Lek.

Then comes Mahathir's turn. He drops a 'bomb' the promise to fight corruption even by invoking fear of God; the assurance of clean and transparent privatisation; the detention of innocent and respected people with false and groundless allegations under the Internal Security Act; the unethical way Lord President Salleh Abas was dismissed; Mahathir's unforgivable statement on Anwar's black eye; the false accusation that Anwar was responsible for building the RM220 million mahligai in Putrajaya and the PM's refusal to give evidence despite repeatedly saying he has evidence of Anwar's 'sexual immorality'.

Mahathir has even once told Parliament that he had falsely promised Suqui he would implement their manifesto before the 1999 general election. He even added that such undertakings were not unusual during elections!

We can expect a slew of many more groundless allegations and lies to come out of BN''s propaganda machine as D-day approaches.
