An open letter to Prime Dr Mahathir Mohamad and UN special envoy Razali Ismail. I am worried about the difficulties faced by the Burmese Muslims because of the Junta's refusal to issue passports to all the Muslims in Burma. This ruling has no exception for any race as long as his religion is Islam.

Even Chinese Muslims, Indian Muslims, Rohingya Muslims, Shan Muslims, Karen Muslims are denied passports since last October.

And the more important thing is the recently tightened travel restrictions on all Muslims in Burma. It is actually an extension of the unfair travel restrictions already enforced on our brothers, the Arakan Muslims.

If any Muslim citizen wants to travel to any place, they have to apply for the travel permits in advance. Whether one could give good reasons on medical or educational grounds is not important. Bribery is more important.

Once arrived at the destination, they must report to the local immigration department daily and it is an open secret to bring some presents on each visit. This rule applies to Muslim citizens only.

This irresponsible religious discrimination and oppression have not been reported in any media yet.

Recently, your government started to recognise and accept Burmese workers. Burma's ex-military welfare association monopolised all the work-permits and sent only their relatives abroad and most of them landed in Malaysia.

So it is interesting to note that the so-called Islamic country, Malaysia, has closed her eyes to this blatant racial and religious discrimination. It opens its doors to the children and relatives of the Myanmar Military, all of whom are non-Muslims.

As you are the main supporter of the Junta, you are morally and religiously responsible to stop them from this blatant discrimination of Burmese Muslims.
