I had once written a ‘Letter to the Editor' which was published on Sept 3 last year in which I voiced my frustration over the long waiting period for a hearing date for a probate application from the High Court.

I finally got a hearing date on Oct 31 in which my appearance together with my lawyer in front of the judge took less than five minutes.

I was informed by my legal firm that the High Court would need ‘several months' to prepare the letter of probate.

Only with the letter of probate will I be able to act as the executor and trustee for the will of my late mother who died on Nov 4, 2007.

Sometime in February this year, I was informed by the legal firm that the letter of probate had been prepared but was still pending a signature.

I have yet to receive any news since then. In the meantime, I continue to suffer mental anguish and emotional distress with no end in sight.

In view of the long time needed to execute matters, it is no wonder that there are severe backlogs in disposing of the court cases.

I dread to think what happens should I ever have a more complicated case that would need the court's intervention.
