Eli Wong, DP Vijandran, Chua Soi Lek - the difference

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Wong to remain as exco, state rep .

Many Barisan Nasional sympathisers have inferred adversely on PR's supposed double standard in allowing Elizabeth Wong to continue as Bukit Lanjan representative as though BN stands a chance in hell of ever winning the seat if she stepped aside.

Her decision to stay on saves BN from further embarrassment at the polls now that they have the Penanti seat to deal with.

Mohd Khir Toyo thought himself highly erudite when he said BN will exploit Elizabeth's alleged moral turpitude and highlight Pakatan Rakyat's double standards in holding the prime minister to account for the alleged Mongolian fiasco but letting Wong get of scot-free.

Hopefully, Khir Toyo realises that the Mongolian fiasco concerns deceit, adultery, murder and even blowing someone to smithereens as the recent court case had heard.

In Elizabeth's case, it is an issue of invasion of privacy where she is the victim.

Alas, BN apologists, due to their inability to find any scandal that could nail Pakatan for good, are not giving up.

Some have apparently compared Chua Soi Lek and DP Vijandran's transgressions with Wong's. Let us examine this further.

Chua Soi Lek was caught on video, as a married man, having sex with someone who was not his wife - there is an obvious issue of morals here for which he has apologised nevertheless.

Vijandran was also featured on video having sex with numerous women. He was single at that time.

However, the story of his nephew superimposing his image could not unfortunately be tested in court as Dr Mahathir Mohamad ordered the attorney-general and police to take no action if Vijandran vacated all his posts. The tapes were subsequently destroyed.

Elizabeth Wong was not caught having sex, nor were there any videos of her. Pictures of her scantily dressed with undergarments visible were taken whilst she was asleep.

Such pictures could be taken of 99.99% of Malaysians in their homes - perhaps a very religious, saintly, efficient, clean, effective, intelligent, honest, trustworthy BN member, as he walks out of the bathroom clad in his towel, could have also been a victim. So what is the beef?

Note the main difference with Chua Soi Lek and Vijandran vis-à-vis Elizabeth - Chua and Vijandran's actions hurt other parties ie, the women they were having sex with who unwittingly became infamous.

Wong's case doesn't involve anyone else but her. If you can't see this obvious difference, it is because you choose not too.
