I refer to the Malaysiakini report 'Voters knew the risks, so don't quit' .

P Waythamoorthy ‘expressed disappointment with the Pakatan Rakyat coalition for not doing enough to secure the release of the ISA detainee' and also said that Hindraf expected Pakatan Rakyat to take ‘positive and constructive actions' towards M Manoharan's release.

Many Pakatan Rakyat leaders were themselves former ISA detainees who also could not get themselves released from ISA detention until BN decided to release them. I, therefore, cannot understand what he means by ‘positive and constructive actions'.

I wonder if he expects Pakatan Rakyat to organise a rescue team and physically break Manoharan out of Kamunting like in the movies.

Waythamoorthy also claimed that Manoharan's wife Pushpaneela has been ‘burdened with the responsibilities with regard to the constituency'. Yet there has been a suggestion that if Manoharan finally decides to resign, then Pushpaneela should be the Pakatan candidate for the by-election.

If it is true that constituency responsibilities are a ‘burden' to Pushpaneela, then I cannot see her as a suitable candidate for the by-election. More so if she actually agrees with Waythamoorthy's statement that:

‘Pakatan could have easily appointed responsible elected representatives/party members on a rotation basis to oversee and manage the constituents' needs as opposed to burdening a housewife who is already overloaded with the responsibilities of taking care of his legal firm and their family'.

Besides Hindraf, many others, including Pakatan Rakyat leaders who oppose BN are also suffering from bullying by BN who make use of tools such as the police, the MACC and the attorney-general.

Therefore it is time for Hindraf stop blaming Pakatan Rakyat for their sufferings which are inflicted by BN and not by Pakatan Rakyat.

Waythamoorthy further ‘urges the Pakatan coalition to urgently file a motion to debate the inability of a democratically-elected representative to serve his constituents and (at least) stage a walkout should their motion to debate be refused'.

The rejection of such a motion can be predicted with a 100 percent accuracy. A walkout gets staged but Manoharan will still remain under ISA detention. Will Waythamoorthy then consider such an action to be a ‘positive and constructive action' towards Manoharan's release?

I see only one possible ‘positive and constructive action' that will end all ISA detentions and other injustices. This action cannot come from Pakatan Rakyat but has to be carried out by the 'rakyat' when they decide to elect the Pakatan Rakyat to replace the BN at the federal level in a future general election.

Therefore I believe it may be more ‘positive and constructive' for Hindraf to show more support and respect for Pakatan Rakyat and also to stop threatening to withhold support for Pakatan Rakyat whenever Pakatan does not agree to fielding a Hindraf candidate for any by-election or for the next general election.
