I refer to the Malaysiakini report PKFZ report: three top politicians named .
Finally, after dragging its feet for so long, the government haa finally released the PKZ report where the initial cost of project has ballooned from an initial cost of RM2 billions to RM12 billion due to alleged abuse of power by those entrusted with this big project. Another white elephant project to enrich crooks in this country.
While three top politicians are named in the report for alleged abuse of power and conflicts of interest with the said report being forwarded to the MACC for further action, don't expect the authorities to drag the culprits to court.
Our country is enmeshed in financial scandals which have caused billions to be washed away due to financial irregularities but no top guns have served time in jail for their hideous crime as after some time, the case files are only there to gather dust and will be soon forgotten.
Does any one remember the Lingam tape royal commission episode where prominent members of society were implicated in getting undeserving judges into the top echelon of the judiciary? Nothing seemed to have happened after the commission's report was published.
Even the Disneyland fiasco where the former MB of Selangor was implicated in dipping his hands into the coffers of state subsidiaries to finance his holidays abroad still has not got the attention of the MACC to investigate such alleged abuse of power by a powerful politician.
But when it comes to the opposition parties, a different yardstick is used by the authorities. The present MB of Selangor was publicly shamed by the MACC chief when the latter stated that abuse of power had occurred during the MB's tenure of office due to the purchase of some cows during Hari Raya Haji period and over the maintenance of a private vehicle using state funds. Nothing came out of that, however.
Even the opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim will have his day in court next month on alleged sodomy charges although most people in this country as well as abroad think it is just a framed charge to deny him the opportunity to become our next prime minister.
In the recent Penanti by-election, the MACC swung into action just because the independent candidate, Aminah Abdullah made an allegation that PKR agents tried to bribe her with money and position if she withdrew her candidacy for the state seat.
People are not stupid and can see the charades used by the weak regime in using government apparatus to destroy the opposition's rise of power and to stifle dissenting voices from reaching the masses.
Like the Perwaja case before this where it was reported that nearly RM10 billions was lost through abuse of power by those who manage the company and the then managing director was acquitted by the session court, the PKFZ scandal will see the same thing happening as nobody expects top politicians from the ruling parties to pay for their crimes.
Billions have been lost since the 1980s due to fraudulent transactions and yet life goes on as usual for those who abuse their power for personal gain. Where is the fairness in this matter? It makes your blood boil to see hard-earned taxpayers' money disappear into thin air.
