Pakatan must not be BN's 'tong sampah'
I refer to the Malaysiakini report Slam the door on BN 'opportunist' .
I agree with Sim Tze Tzin absolutely!
Right at the outset, I had voiced my dismay when PKR's de-facto leader proudly made announcements about 'impending' walk-overs into the opposition front.
Except perhaps for a very few upright people who have their strong reasons for renouncing their party (such as Zaid Ibrahim - thank God for Zaid!), people who readily switch camps are unprincipled and should be given a wide berth.
PKR must be clean, remain clean and be focused on its mission. In fact, it may even need to purge itself of some ‘rubbish’ that it may already be carrying.
PKR cannot remain clean if it is prepared to embrace politicians the likes of Huan and others before him.
PKR leaders must remain principled and reject Anwar Ibrahim's impatience. Numbers don't count, but quality does. Worms will fester in rubbish, and bring about decay to the entire opposition front!
Let Umno and BN parties collect PKR's ‘rubbish’, that’s okay - but not the other way round, please.
Moreover, if PKR allows itself to be a 'tong sampah' for Umno, it will only end up being no different from the untrustworthy Umno and in the process lose disillusioned honest people within the party who are truly committed to the cause of fighting for democracy, social justice and rule of law for a better Malaysia.
PKR leaders must listen to party grassroots and refrain from being dogmatic and myopic.
Between now and the next general elections, PKR should take the opportunity to build up its strength, taking in only strong-principled and honest people who share the same passion to work for a better Malaysia for our children's sake.
Reject any who display a tendency to put self before party - this to earn the respect of Malaysians in readiness for the next general elections.
Only then can PKR move forward and reduce Umno to being a little opposition party after the next general elections!
