Let me ask you readers a few questions. Since when did the Chinese have to gain political power to compete? Or prosper? In primary school? Secondary school? University? The workplace? Commerce? In the professions?

Which self-respecting Chinese Malaysian citizen is going to ask for special privileges? Which self-respecting Chinese Malaysian will insist on using other people's money for their own religious, cultural, social or educational purposes? Which self-respecting Chinese Malaysian is going to insist on an uneven playing field ?

Which self-respecting Chinese Malaysian is going to use your tax money to build their temples or churches or finance their children's educational aspirations or business licenses or housing discounts?

Only someone with an inferiority complex himself who thinks he needs an uneven playing field to prosper and thrive, and who has imbibed ethnic xenophobia with Umno's breast milk would think that the ethnic others - the Chinese and the Indians - will think along the same lines as him.

The fact is that ethnic Chinese and Indians don't think like the Umno Malays. The ethnic Chinese will be the first to spit on their own kind for asking for special privileges, The ethnic Indians have asked only because Umno's five-decade-old apartheid system has devastated their community.

The fact is that Umno operates an apartheid system of institutionalised racism that enforces a hierarchy of ethnic groups for over forty years - one generation has already passed - and Umno's elites have benefitted greatly.

if Umno's elites fail to engender an ethnic inferiority complex in the dominant ethnic majority, and fails to convince them that the ethnic minorities want to do to the Malays what Umno has done to the minority Indians and minority Chinese and minority others for decades, then Umno will continue to bleed ethnic Malay votes.

Since Umno's income stems directly from being in power, and having a license to steal taxpayer's money at will - corruption has cost the Malaysian taxpayer several hundred billion ringgit already - then it is clear they will have to ratchet up the ethnic discord if they are to win any votes from the Malays.

The fact is that the average Chinese Malaysian can't be bothered about politics when they can happily work and make money even on an uneven unfair and disadvantageous playing field - the minorities like the Chinese are used to racial discrimination - they just work harder and get on with life.

The problem is that the Malaysian playing field is so littered with corruption, cronyism, nepotism, crime, commissions and dead bodies that no one can make money except Umno leaders who - who let’s face it - have no compunction stealing from the poor - Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazan, Iban, Eurasian, Ceylonese and the ‘lain-lain’.

The only thing that the Chinese may worry about is an uneven playing field in that how uneven is it going to be. Because by the time it can seriously impoverish the Chinese, Malaysia would have to either resemble Zimbabwe or Burma - it is heading in that direction, anyway.

Umno can continue to demonise Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore, Hong Kong, Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang, or even the Chinese diaspora worldwide.

The Chinese Malaysians I know treat this line of thinking with contempt - you can call them avaricious, ambitious, energetic, clannish or fiercely competitive - but no self-respecting Chinese minority group will ever ask for privileges based on pigment or religion. Why bother?

Where in the world have an overseas Chinese minority sought political power to insist on special privileges for themselves? Their success as overseas minorities - in US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, Asia, Europe - did not depend on special ethnic privileges.

Umno's greatest triumph is to make the Malays feel they cannot survive without special privileges. Even when the Malays completely dominate the cabinet, parliament, military, police, judiciary, and a huge government bureaucracy - even then - Utusan hacks and Umno demagogues still try to make the Malay masses feel even more insecure and anxious and xenophobic - simply to win Malay votes

The real reason why the Chinese and Indian minorities are emigrating in droves right now is that they believe, sooner or later, when the country breaks down completely, that Umno elites will still need patsies, fall guys, bogeymen, bogey women and bogey children - people to scapegoat.

The fact is that a significant number of Chinese and Indians simply don't want their children to be caught in another escalation of the ongoing 50-year pogrom in Umno's Malaysia, and can see no solution to their dilemma except to emigrate abroad for their children's sakes.

Since Umno insists they are really ‘pendatang’ anyway, perhaps, emigrating to Great Britain, Canada, Singapore, Australia or New Zealand is the only really patriotic thing that any ethnic minority citizen in Malaysia can do.

I suppose that is being facetious - in fact, what Umno really wants is for the Malays, Chinese and Indians to live and work in Malaysia - otherwise Umno leaders will have nobody to steal from!

In the meantime, I am sure some out there will be kept busy warning their brethren on behalf of their political masters in Umno to beware the ever pesky yellow peril, black peril, Eurasian peril, ‘lain-lain’ peril, Jewish peril, American peril, infidel peril, ‘munafiq’ peril etc. As long as scapegoat-ing and demonising minorities has political utility, then Umno will make sure it will never ever go away.

In Malaysia, depending on your skin pigment, you will either be threatened, mollycoddled, demonised, scapegoat-ed or jailed . The one thing that is certain regardless of your skin pigment is that Umno will lie to you and steal from you - even if you are a Malay, sorry to disappoint you.

On a parting note, the ‘1Malaysia’ concept by Najib's fourth-floor boys is a joke - Umno has won all their elections based on the electoral promise to the Malays that Umno will throw sand only into the Chinese and Indian soup bowls - and pour contracts, tenders, promotions, scholarships, and licenses into Malay soup bowls

What the Malays have discovered to their shock and horror is that Umno leaders steal from everyone - thereby breaching the electoral promises of apartheid - and they are no longer as impressed with Umno's sacred promises.
