Putting profit above people
I am surprised that the wrath of politicians and the public alike is turned against the state administration, whether past or present.
It seems to me that the real party which is at fault is Nusmetro Venture (P) Sdn Bhd, the developer of the project who acquired the land knowing that it was the place of a long- established community that their fellow citizens call home.
The developer most certainly knew that its plan would lead to the destruction of Kampung Buah Pala, and yet it continued where it could have easily turned back.
Unfortunately, there is not yet a law which requires companies to put people ahead of profits.
In my opinion, if anything is learnt from the economic crisis, it is that people must always come before profit.
Meanwhile, it should be clear that the proper solution to this problem is for the developer to give the land to the people of the kampung and eat the loss it incurred by this whole immoral and thoughtless project.
