I refer to Malaysiakini report, Khir says speaker biased, gets the boot .

Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, the controversial ex-MB of Selangor, is in the news lately with regards to his opulent bungalow which he claims to cost him only RM3.5 million but property market expert’s claims otherwise. The huge area and the massive Balinese-style building only make his other Umno member the late Zakaria Md Deros’ bungalow looks like a terrace house.

Khir Toyo is a liability for Umno as his lavish lifestyles who use state subsidiaries money to funds his trips to Disneyland’s overseas have cause much public anger when it was made public.

Now the former MB’s exclusive bungalow in a secluded area in Shah Alam which was reported cost more than RM24 millions makes the public wonder - how he could build such an opulent private residence although he was the MB of Selangor for eight years. Even Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not believe his statement that the exclusive private residence cost only RM3.5 millions.

Although the new premier is trying his very best to win over the minds and hearts of the public to support BN again with a slew of incentives to make Malaysians live better after his 100 days in office, it is people like Khir Toyo whose scandals during his time in office will only make the voters thinks that Umno cannot reform for the better as “old habits die hard”.

One would also think that Khir Toyo purposely challenged the state speaker to throw him out of the House in order to deflect the controversy surrounding his massive private residence issue and the former MB can portray himself as being victims of persecutions by his political enemies out to get him for his past misdeeds.

But Khir Toyo cannot blame anybody except himself for the situation that he is in as he was the chief executive of the state for more than eight years and if the former MB had run the state fairly with any hint of corrupt practice and abuse of power together with his exco members, Selangor will still be helmed by him but voters have rejected them during the last polls due to gross abuse by the former state leaders.

During the last general elections, photos of ‘Istana Zakaria’ were widely circulated in the Internet and other alternative media to show how the rich and powerful abuse their power for personal gains. One would not be surprise if the new photos of ‘Istana Khir’ will be widely distributed to voters at Manek Urai to shows voters there that BN leaders live a pompous lifestyles not befitting their paychecks.

As they say ‘a photo paints a thousand words’. People would believe what they see and not vote for the party that represents the corrupt. To win back public support the MACC should investigate thoroughly on how the former MB gets his money to purchase such lavish private residence and should get to the bottom of the issue of abuse of power when Khir Toyo helmed the state during his term in office.

People are not so stupid to believe blindly his statement that he earned more than RM50,000 a month through his private business in order to pay his hefty monthly installments to the foreign bank where he took a housing loan. Looking at the photos of his massive bungalow, the ex-MB of Selangor must be the only leader from the state whose private residence are way above the rest of other top leaders in this country.

Unless he can furnish evidence how he has acquired his wealth’s from being a simple dentist, a state assemblyman and MB and back to a state assemblyman and a dentist again, people can only assume that his massive wealth are acquired through illegal means.

Really, if Umno and BN want to survive the next general elections, it is people like Khir Toyo and his likes who should retire from politics. Humility and down-to-earth politicians wins votes and not those who are arrogant and abuse their power. Khir Toyo who comes from a humble background should understand that.
