James Tan writes: It is extremely disturbing that the family of Ho Kwai See - who died on Aug 4 while being held in Sungai Buloh prison on a drug-related charge - was denied the right for a second post-mortem by the court, therefore denied the right to know the cause of death.

The family have claimed that he was healthy before arrest. This case certainly makes one feel totally helpless against the power of the authorities.

Amir writes: I just want to make doubly sure that there is no mis-reporting because the news is very disturbing:

"However defence counsel PS Ranjan disagreed. He said the family only had the right to bury or cremate the body, but not the right to seek the cause of death. The latter's right was described as belonging to the police or magistrate."

Do we really have no right to know the cause of death of a family member??
